Darrell A. Young
With a reputation as an exceptional construction and real estate executive built on integrity, creativity, and an extraordinary work ethic, Darrell A. Young had over forty years experience in all facets of commercial, industrial, retail and health care construction, real estate development, finance and management. Darrell was an innovative and creative executive supported by unique leadership qualities, communication skills, and entrepreneurial spirit, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence, quality and customer satisfaction. Darrell’s belief in personalized, highly technical thought partnership resulted in decades of profitable projects, and relationships. Darrell was excited to have launched Household Management, a Division of Darrell A. Young Enterprises, which leveraged Darrell’s expertise in all things building and construction in service of demanding homeowners.
Darrell grew up in the construction and real estate industry. His father, Howard S. Young, was founder and President of the Hannan Co., a nationally recognized construction organization and pioneer in the design build delivery methodology. Howard was also a co-founder of Developers Diversified. Darrell graduated from The Ohio State University with a real estate major and upon his graduation joined The Hannan Co. His career path led him to lead his own organization where he developed, constructed, and managed shopping centers, office buildings, medical facilities, nursing homes, manufacturing/warehousing facilities, corporate headquarters, automobile dealerships and several facilities for Non Profit organizations, as well as serving as an owner’s representative for organizations without in-house real estate and construction expertise.
As President of Figgie Properties, a division of Figgie International, Darrell oversaw a diverse international real estate portfolio and was instrumental in the negotiations and strategic planning of Chagrin Highlands, Strongsville Business Park and Virginia Center; collectively over 2,000 acres of commercial, residential and mixed use development.
As CEO of DARRELL A. YOUNG ENTERPRISES in Cleveland, Ohio, Darrell specialized in Commercial, Residential and Industrial Real Estate Development, Property Management, and Brokerage, Owner’s Representation, Site Selection and General Consulting to the Commercial, Residential, Health Care and Industrial Real Estate Professions. He has been the recipient of many awards including the Morton Mandel Leadership Award, ORT Maimonides Award for Community Service, Fr. Mark Dinardo 2020 Ohio City Legacy Award, Beachwood Gallery of Success, Cleveland Jewish News Civic Leadership Award, and the Harley I. Gross Leadership Award.
Darrell was dedicated to philanthropic endeavors including Darrell A. Young Enterprises Homelessness & Advocacy Internships Fund at John Carroll University, Jewish Federation of Cleveland, The Montefiore Home, Playhouse Square Foundation, Ohio City Improvement Corporation, Mandel Jewish Community Center and University Hospitals. In detail, Darrell was the past board chair of the Mandel Jewish Community Center in Beachwood, and chaired its facilities committee; a past board chair of both the Montefiore Housing Corp. and the Montefiore Foundation in Beachwood; among other Federation roles, including Trustee, he was past chair of its properties committee; a former board member and chair of the real estate committee of the Playhouse Square Foundation and he was board chair of Ohio City Improvement Corp’s special improvement district’s board.
